Lancashire Cricket Club announce Utilita partnership

Lancashire Cricket Club have announced a three-year partnership with energy company Utilita, which comes on board as the Official Sustainability Energy Partner of both the club and their home ground, Emirates Old Trafford.

The partnership will see Utilita install solar panels throughout the ground with the aim of generating renewable energy on-site and reducing Lancashire Cricket’s environmental impact. Utilita will also become the main sponsor of the club’s Cricket Expo and support the Lancashire Cricket Foundation through its Blackburn Energy Hub.

Additionally, the two parties will also work on campaigns to promote sustainability as well as on fan engagement initiatives.

Just as importantly, this partnership reaches far beyond Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground. Through the Lancashire Cricket Foundation, the use of Utilita’s Blackburn Energy Hub and their support of our Cricket Expo, we’ll be able to create even more opportunities to engage with and support communities across the county. Through our fully funded Solar Power Purchase Agreement, the Club can generate more of its own clean electricity and cut carbon emissions, without the need for upfront capital investment. The installation of more than 1,000 solar panels at Emirates Old Trafford will generate almost 400,000kWh of clean energy every year, reducing carbon emissions by more than 80 tonnes annually. This partnership shows how major organisations can take practical, commercially viable steps towards a more sustainable future, while creating lasting value for the communities they serve.
