Top 5 Leicester City players to watch in 2022

Leicester City have had an up-and-down season in the Premier League so far. On some occasions, they look like a world-class side, while on other occasions they fail to meet expectations. However, at Leicester City, players with pace and ability on the ball can be found in abundance.

Therefore, keeping in mind Leicester’s style of play, the following players are, for me, the ones to watch in 2022.

James Maddison

After much speculation that he was to walk out of Leicester in the summer, Foxes fans were delighted to watch James Maddison back on the pitch for them for the 2021/22 season. Maddison struggled with a few injuries at the beginning of the campaign, but it has not taken him long to resume regular service for his side.

Maddison is heavily involved in most of Leicester’s attacking play whilst contributing largely to set-play situations. His performances and shouldering responsibility in 2022, especially given an ageing Jamie Vardy, will be pretty interesting to watch.

Patson Daka

It is safe to say that some of Leicester’s recruitment has been fascinating. Patson Daka has seen some game time during the 2021/22 season in the absence of Jamie Vardy. It was crucial that Leicester found the right man to replace the ever-willing Englishman, and in Daka, they seem to have found their man.

Daka’s height makes him lethal in the air while also being able to strike it clean with his feet. His ability to link up with his teammates and pass the ball around suits Brendan Rodgers’ style of play and will be essential to Leicester’s performances in 2022.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Yet another refreshing face at the King Power is of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, someone who has come through the ranks at Leicester. The left-footed midfielder looks like a bundle of energy — a trait that Rodgers’ midfield players embody. Dewsbury-Hall, in his short first-team career, has already shown a lot of promise and potential.

His ability to drive the ball up from midfield and link up play with the rest of his teammates makes him lethal in the middle of the park. The youngster will certainly be watched keenly in 2022 by fans and various clubs worldwide.

James Justin

James Justin, the pacey full-back, has just returned from a significant long-term injury, which is only good news for the Leicester City squad. The Foxes have been short on both right-backs and left-backs throughout the season, and Justin’s return will mightily boost their confidence. However, his lengthy absence means James will need to prove that he is ready to play regularly at the Premier League level once again.

The Englishman can play on either side in a back-four and is known for making crucial runs up the field and contributing in an attacking sense. It will be intriguing to analyse Justin’s return to the Premier League in 2022.

Ademola Lookman

The last Leicester City player to watch in 2022 on this list is Ademola Lookman.

Lookman is currently at Leicester City on loan from RB Leipzig, and so far he has performed exceptionally well, forcing Leicester to start him more regularly.

Although Lookman could well depart the King Power in the summer, his ability on the ball and knack for creating goal-scoring opportunities earns him a spot on this list.

Lookman’s pace and ability to dribble also suit the Foxes’ style of play, which includes breaking and hitting teams on the counter.
