WPL 2025 | Match 16: UP Warriorz vs Mumbai Indians | Preview and Predictions

UP Warriorz will play the Mumbai Indians in Match 16 of the WPL at the Ekana Cricket Stadium B Ground in Lucknow.

Both teams are coming into this encounter on the back of a loss in their previous match and hence it’s vital for both to win.

Women’s Premier League 2025 Match 16 | Group Stage | UP Warriorz vs Mumbai Indians | 19:30 IST, March 6th

Mumbai Indians lost to the Delhi Capitals in their last encounter. MI batted first but could not manage to get to a big total, only scoring 123/9 in their 20 overs with none of their top order batters performing. Jess Jonassen and Minnu Mani bowled superbly for the Capitals taking three wickets each to restrict the Mumbai Indians.

In response, DC chased down the total relatively quickly in just 14.3 overs with their openers Meg Lanning 60*(49) and Shafali Verma 43(28) doing the bulk of the scoring.

The over-reliance on Nat-Sciver Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur has been pretty visible this season and if MI are to qualify, the other batters need to find form.

As for UP Warriorz, after two consecutive wins, they have now lost two consecutive matches again. The last encounter against Gujarat Giants was fairly one-sided as the Giants piled on an above-par 186/5 with opener Beth Mooney leading the way with 96*(59), supported by Harleen Deol scoring 45(32). Sophie Ecclestone ended with figures of 2/34 for the Warriorz.

In response, the Warriorz batting disappointed, getting all out for 105 in 17.3 overs. Bowlers Kashvi Gautam and Tanuja Kanwar ended with three wickets each for the Giants. GG won this match by a massive 81runs and climbed to second spot in the table.

While both UP Warriorz and Mumbai Indians have come off a loss, MI look more likely to win this encounter as the Warriorz are much more inconsistent and such a heavy loss might have dented their confidence as well.

Fantasy XI: Kiran Navgire, Hayley Matthews, Nat-Sciver Brunt, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Amelia Kerr, Deepti Sharma, Grace Harris, Yastika Bhatia (wk), Chinelle Henry, Sophie Ecclestone, Shabnim Ismail.

Winner’s Prediction: Mumbai Indians

Venue: Ekana Cricket Stadium B Ground, Lucknow
