NBA and PepsiCo have agreed upon a multi-year extension of their partnership, according to which PepsiCo will be continuing to be the official drinking and chip partner for NBA, WNBA and G-League. MTN Dew and Ruffles will also be officially listed in the NBA All-Star festivities next Sunday.
The first PepsiCo TV commercial will be televised by Ruffles after Sunday’s All-Star Game, which includes Los Angeles Lakers athlete Anthony Davis and American rapper T-Pain. Ruffles have recently signed a sponsorship contract with Boston Celtics along with Jayson Tatum, who has a signature flavour with the brand.
The MTN Dew Region, with bright green balls stationed in two positions six feet behind the top of the 3-point line and worth bonus points in the game, will be featured once again as the title sponsor of the 3-Point Contest. MTN Dew will introduce a newly-created scholarship fund during the 3-point contest at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, which will offer $100,000 to two students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
The NBA and PepsiCo collaborated for the first time in 2015, breaking the league’s 28-year partnership with Coca-Cola. The renewal’s financial conditions were not been disclosed.
Lauren Sullivan, the NBA’s vice president of global partnerships, said: “Since partnering with PepsiCo in 2015, we’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with the talented teams across their portfolio of brands, finding new and innovative ways to bring our partnership to life.”
