Nike launches “FootballVerse” advertisement days before FIFA World Cup 2022

American sportswear and sports equipment giant Nike has released a film titled Nike FC Presents the FootballVerse, featuring top Nike players, in honour of the FIFA World Cup 2022, which begins this Sunday, November 20, 2022, in Qatar. Alex Morgan, Carli Lloyd, Cristiano Ronaldo, CR Jr., Edgar Davids, Kevin De Bruyne, Kylian Mbappé, Leah Williamson, Phil Foden, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo Nazário, Sam Kerr, Shane Kluivert and Virgil van Dijk star in the video.

The commercial opens in a hidden laboratory in Switzerland, where a few scientists debate which generation has the best football players. They begin the final fight by pressing a button to summon great players from the past and the present.

The four-and-a-half-minute ad film rushes by as more and more participants, and even some fictional characters, show up when the experiment goes awry. The commercial concludes with the idea of bringing in players from the future, with the quote You’re Up flashing on the screen.
