Roger Federer still not 100% fit for Australian Open

20-Time Grand Slam champion, Roger Federer, who had two knee injuries earlier this year, was forced to miss many of the important tournaments during the year. This made his closest rival Rafael Nadal climb on to match his record of 20 Grand Slam titles by winning the 2020 French Open. Having recovered from his surgeries, Roger was back to training freely in October and was expected to make a comeback in the next Season’s first Grand Slam i.e., the Australian Open, in January 2021. The news that the tournament might be postponed to February due to the Covid-19 situation might just come to the legend’s benefit as he is not 100% fit at the moment.

Federer recently said in an interview that “I would have hoped that I would be 100 per cent in October. But I am still not today. It will be tight for the Australian Open. The second knee operation was a huge damper, but in the last six months there has been steady progress. Let’s see how the next two months will unfold. I’ve been doing a lot of physio and physical work lately, now let’s see how tennis is doing.”

The Swiss tennis legend who has won the Australian Open an impressive six times thinks that it will be a difficult task to be fit for the tournament and added his comments to this situation by saying “It’s a race against time for the Australian Open. I’m curious to see whether it will start on February 8, Of course, it would help if I had a bit more time.”

Turning 40 next year, Federer will be hoping he can put together another amazing season for his fans and win some silverware to add to his enormous list of trophies.
