Haas F1 announce departure of Simone Resta

American Formula One team Haas have bid goodbye to their Technical Director, Simone Resta.

Reports suggest Resta is on his way to Ferrari, though it is not sure whether he will re-join Ferrari’s F1 department just yet. 

Resta, who was Ferrari’s Chief Designer between 2014 and 2018, had been with Haas since 2021, on loan from Ferrari. The loan period ended at the end of 2023, after which Resta spent a short time with Alfa Romeo, heading their Technical Department.

Haas, their engines supplied by Ferrari, have been struggling for quite some years despite starting strong in their debut season in 2016. The American team finished last in the 2023 season with just 12 points. 

Resta leaving Haas comes shortly after the team having also parted ways with their Team Principal, Guenther Steiner, who has been replaced by Ayao Komatsu. Resta’s replacement is yet to be announced.
