Singapore Airlines extends F1 partnership

Singapore Airlines has announced an extension of its sponsorship agreement with Formula One’s Singapore Grand Prix. The new three-year deal sees Singapore Airlines continue as the title sponsor of the race till 2024.

Singapore Airlines had initially partnered with the Singapore Grand Prix in 2014 on a four-year deal, which was extended for a further two years in 2018 and again in 2020.

Lee Lik Hsin, SIA Executive Vice President Commercial, commented:

This year’s highly anticipated Formula One Singapore Grand Prix will be an important milestone for Singapore, marking the return of a major international sporting event to the city after a two-year disruption due to the pandemic. The race will be warmly welcomed by Singapore residents and visitors alike, and will enhance our reputation as a global city.

SIA’s extension of its title sponsorship signals our continued support for both tourism and sports, complements the expansion of our global network, and will bolster Singapore’s recovery as a key international air hub.

Brandon Snow, Formula 1, Managing Director of Commercial, added:

We are pleased that Singapore Airlines will continue to be the title sponsor of the Singapore Grand Prix for another three years. The Singapore Grand Prix is the original Formula One night race, an iconic Formula One event loved by fans and drivers, and it returns to the calendar after two years away.

This year’s race will see further use of renewable energy and sustainable materials, and the commitments from Singapore Airlines towards sustainable aviation fuels reflect the continued alignment between all partners and Formula One in reducing environmental impact.

Earlier in January 2022, Formula One had announced that Singapore had signed a seven-year deal to continue racing at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

The 2022 edition will be the first race in Singapore since Sebastian Vettel’s win in 2019. The race had been cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID pandemic and is set to return on October 2, 2022, at the Marina Bay.
