Top 10 footballers whose value skyrocketed in 2025

Modern-day footballers are global superstars who earn millions in wages and carry a significant value in the market.

While young Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal ranks as the most valuable player in the world, stars like Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland are not far behind in the transfer market. With the inflation rate increasing every year, players are costing much more than they used to even a decade back, leading to exorbitant transfer fees.

Here, we take a look at the top ten players whose value in the transfer market has seen a sky-high rise since the start of 2025.

Note: All transfer values mentioned here have been sourced from Transfrmarkt.co.uk.

10. Ryan Gravenberch

Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch had a superb 2024/25 season and proved to be an instrumental figure in their title charge in the Premier League.

From being a squad player under Jürgen Klopp to becoming the Reds’ starting defensive midfielder, Gravenberch not only found a place in the PFA Premier League Team of the Season (TOTS) come the end of the 2024/25 campaign, he also won the PFA Young Player of the Season award for the 2024/25 Premier League season. He also impressed at international level and became a regular in the Netherlands national team setup under head coach Ronald Koeman.

As a result, Gravenberch’s market value has seen a highly significant 63.6% rise. His transfer market value before 2025 was €55 million; it has since risen to €90 million, a rise of €35 million.

The 23-year-old is one of the most reliable deep-lying midfielders in the world right now, and if he continues to improve and wins more trophies with club and country, the sky is the limit for him.

9. Sandro Tonali

Newcastle United ended the 2024/25 season in impressive manner and were able to qualify for the UEFA Champions League as well as end their 70-year trophy drought by winning the EFL Cup. Their Italian midfield maestro, Sandro Tonali, played a key role in both these achievements.

Duly, this has boosted his appeal. His transfer value before 2025 was €38 million, and now it has had a 97.4% rise and gone up to €75 million, marking an increase of €37 million.

If the 25-year-old proves his worth and takes his country to the FIFA World Cup, his stock could further rise exponentially.

8. Pedri

Without a doubt, Pedri is one of the best midfielders in the world right now. He is not just a central figure for the Blaugrana, but also a key player in the Spain national team setup.

It was due to Pedri’s brilliance in midfield that led Barça to a domestic treble and the Champions League semi-finals last season. He is the one who runs the show in the middle of the park for them, and last season he also won the player of the month award several times and was part of LaLiga’s team of the season for 2024/25. Alongside Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, Pedri is the first name on the sheet for coach Hansi Flick.

Pedri’s market value has seen a significant rise of 40%. His current market value is a mammoth €140 million, having risen from the prior value of €100 million.

The young Spaniard has already won trophies with club and country and is on course to become a Barça and Spain legend, carrying forward the legacy of midfield maestros Andrés Iniesta and Xavi.

7. Hugo Ekitiké

Young French forward Hugo Ekitiké was wanted by many clubs in this summer transfer window but finally decided to make a move to English giants Liverpool for an eye-watering transfer fee going up to €95 million. Ekitiké’s earlier move from PSG to Eintracht Frankfurt proved to be a great decision, as he became a regular starter for the German side and, alongside Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush, had a massive impact on their fortunes.

Ekitiké is a young pacy forward with a very high ceiling. He has shown his potential even at a struggling Liverpool in the 2025/26 season. As a result, France national team coach Didier Deschamps has also started favouring the 23-year-old alongside Kylian Mbappé.

Due to having a breakthrough season, Ekitiké’s market value saw a huge rise in 2025. His current market value is €85 million, which is a 112.5% rise, having increased by €45 million this year. Clearly, Ekitiké is just getting started. If he continues performing for club and country, he could soon become one of the most sought-after forwards in world football.

6. Ousmane Dembélé

PSG forward Ousmane Dembélé had a sensational 2024/25 season as he led the team to an unprecedented continental treble with a scintillating run of performances in the second half of the season.

As a result of his performances and the subsequent silverware, the Frenchman was awarded the prestigious Ballon d’Or award. He was also a part of the Ligue 1 Team of the Year as well as the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season for 2024/25.

As a consequence, Dembélé saw a massive rise in his transfer value. The 28-year-old forward had a market value of €55 million in the previous year, which rose by 81.8% and is currently sitting at €100 million — a difference of €45 million.

With 2026 being a World Cup year, Dembélé could prove to be a very important cog in the wheel for the French national team as well as for PSG. If he can stay fit and make an impact for both club and country, his valuation may surge further.

5. Désiré Doué

Unsurprisingly, given the season they had last time out, PSG have more than one player representing them on this list. 20-year-old French sensation Désiré Doué produced a superb season as well, making vital contributions to the Parisians’ treble-winning campaign.

Doué has been touted as one of the most exciting young talents in world football, and he certainly showcased his talent and skills in 2024/25. On the back of his performances, Doué was chosen for the 2024/25 Ligue 1 team of the season as well as the 2024/25 Champions League Team of the Season, while also taking home the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year award.

As a result, the young Frenchman has seen a meteoric rise in his transfer value. Before 2025, he was deemed worth just €40 million, but that number has since risen by 125% and currently sits at €90 million, marking a difference of €50 million.

Doué is undoubtedly one of the players to watch in Europe’s top five leagues right now. If he continues on his current trajectory, his stock could skyrocket even further in the coming years.

4. Dean Huijsen

Dean Huijsen has already seen a superb career trajectory despite still only being 20 years old. Moving from Italian giants Juventus to English club Bournemouth proved to be a career-defining move for the Spaniard.

Such was the Spaniard’s impact in the 2024/25 season for the Cherries, that he started attracting the attention of elite European clubs a few months into his debut season at the Vitality. He also earned his first caps for the Spain national team during the World Cup qualifiers.

With the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea offering him a better platform in the Premier League, Huijsen chose to make the biggest leap of all by moving to Spanish giants Real Madrid, where he has already become a key operator at the back.

Based on his performances in the Premier League, Huijsen’s market value has increased a staggering 288.9%, going from his initial valuation of €18 million to €70 million.

Huijsen has already made it to one of the best clubs in the world and has a long way to go in his career. He has the potential to become one of the best centre-backs in the world, which would naturally increase his market value even further.

3. Nick Woltemade

The 23-year-old tall former VfB Stuttgart striker recently chose to move to England amidst huge interest from German champions Bayern Munich. He had a great season with Die Schwaben, also helping them win the DFB-Pokal.

Woltemade has had a great start to life on Tyneside and scored within 30 minutes of his debut for the Magpies. He is looking well settled in English football already. He is also a first-choice starter for the German national team under coach Julian Nagelsmann.

Woltemade’s recent move has solidified his rising market valuation. His value before 2025 was a paltry €7.5 million, which has risen by 766.7% to €65 million.

Woltemade has a chance to raise his value even further, given he’ll feature in the Champions League this season and at the World Cup next summer. At 23, Woltemade has the world at his feet.

2. Michael Olise

French winger Michael Olise had a sensational debut season for Bayern Munich in 2024/25. Olise preferred a move to the Bavarians even though Manchester City were heavily interested in the then Crystal Palace man.

In his very first season in Germany, Olise contributed massively to Bayern’s return to the Bundesliga summit as well as in the Champions League. For his performances, Olise was awarded the club’s Player of the Season award. He also won the Bundesliga Rookie of the Year award and was part of the league’s team of the season.

Olise’s extraordinary performances led to a huge rise in his market valuation, which went from €65 million before 2025 to €130 million — a 100% increase.

Olise has started the new season in great form as well and is now a regular in the France national team setup. Already back on the radar of many elite European clubs, we could probably see his value grow even more in the coming years.

1. Alexander Isak

The name at the top of the list is former Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, who joined Liverpool in the summer.

With the Magpies, Isak was one of the most prolific scorers in the Premier League, having helped them end a 70-year trophy drought last season as well as qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Isak’s transfer this summer was a messy affair, but there’s no denying that his performances last season were exceptional. He was the second-highest scorer in the league behind Liverpool’s very own Mohamed Salah. For that reason, he was also a part of the PFA Premier League Team of the Season.

The Swedish centre-forward’s value shot up massively this year thanks in no small part to the price tag at which Liverpool agreed to bring him to Anfield. His value before 2025 was €75 million, which went up by 86.7%, up to a mammoth €140 million, marking a €65m bump.

Though Isak hasn’t started life well on Merseyside, with Sweden also struggling in their bid to qualify for next year’s World Cup, if he can help both his club and country turn their form around, he can surely see further improvement in his market valuation.
