UEFA Euro 2024: Day 10 Match Previews | Predictions | Fantasy XIs

Rahul Naresh Rahul Naresh

Day 10 of the UEFA Euro 2024 will see two fixtures take place, the first between Switzerland and Germany at Deutsche Bank Park. The second encounter will see Scotland face off against Hungary at MHPArena.

Match 25: Switzerland v Germany | 12:30 am IST | June 24

Switzerland go into this game on the back of a draw against Scotland. Although it looks highly likely that the Swiss would go through, they would love to put in a good performance against Germany before heading into the knockouts.

Germany have been ruthless in their displays so far in the tournament, and expect them to go into this match with the same mindset. With the Germans having already qualified for the knockouts, there could be a couple of changes we may get to see in the starting lineup.

Team News

Major news around fitness for Switzerland is surrounding Breel Embolo, who was unsure of playing in the early stages of the tournament as he was recovering from injury. With the player having featured in his team’s last two matches, expect Embolo to make a strong impression in this outing.

Germany haven’t had to deal with injury problems throughout the season and could be heading into this clash with a full-strength squad.

Form Guide

Switzerland

Form (all competitions, most recent first): D-W-D-W-W

Most recent result: Scotland 1-1 Switzerland, Euro 2024

European Qualifying: Finished 2nd in Group I, with 17 points.

Germany

Form (all competitions, most recent first): W-W-W-D-W

Most recent result: Germany 2-0 Hungary, Euro 2024

European Qualifying: Host Country

Prediction

With Germany proving as dangerous as expected, Switzerland certainly have less of an opportunity to cause an upset in this tie. With their attacking flair up front, expect Die Mannschaft to come out on top.

Switzerland 1-3 Germany

Predicted Fantasy XI

Goalkeeper: Yan Sommer

Defenders: Manuel Akanji, Jonathan Tah, Joshua Kimmich

Midfielders: Granit Xhaka, Jamal Musiala, Toni Kroos, Remo Freuler, Florian Wirtz

Forwards: Kai Havertz, Breel Embolo

Captain: Kai Havertz

Vice-Captain: Jamal Musiala

Match 26:  Scotland v Hungary | 12:30 am IST | June 24

Scotland go into this tie as favourites, given the talent and names they have in the squad. However, some would argue that Hungary could be the better side heading into this fixture, given how they troubled Switzerland and Germany. Andrew Robertson’s team will set up in a back five and will need most of their attacking output to come from the left flank, where their Liverpool star operates.

Meanwhile, Hungary also employ a back-five system and have proved to be tricky customers on the break. They may not dominate possession, as seen in their matches against the Swiss and Germany, but they will be more than capable of creating a couple of opportunities of their own.

Team News

The big news for Scotland is that they will not have Ryan Proteous back in the squad, with the defender having received a two-match suspension. He was shown a straight red card when Scotland played Germany in the first match of the competition.

It does appear as though Hungary do not have any injury issues to contend with and will have a full squad to choose from for this match.

Form Guide

Scotland

Form (all competitions, most recent first): D-W-D-W-L

Most recent result: Scotland 1-1 Switzerland, Euro 2024

European Qualifying: Finished 2nd in Group A with 17 points

Hungary

Form (all competitions, most recent first): L-L-W-D-W

Most recent result: Germany 2-0 Hungary, Euro 2024

European Qualifying: Finished 1st in Group G with 18 points

Prediction

Scotland haven’t nearly been at their best in this competition and have proved to be leaky at the back. With a Hungarian team who have shown that they can fight, it wouldn’t be surprising if this match ends in a slightly high-scoring draw.

Scotland 2-2 Hungary

Predicted Fantasy XI

Goalkeeper: Péter Gulácsi

Defenders: Andrew Robertson, Kieran Tierney, Willi Orbán, Milos Kerkez

Midfielders: John McGinn, Scott McTominay, Dominik Szoboszlai,

Forwards: Che Adams, Ryan Christie, Barnabás Varga

Captain: Che Adams

Vice-Captain: Barnabás Varga
