India’s celebrity couple Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are the faces of Lux’s latest ‘Chand Sa Roshan Chehra’ campaign.
Unilever’s flagship soap brand Lux had previously acquired the marketing rights to Kohli’s One8 (Puma) brand back in 2017. This is the first time the couple has starred together for a Lux TVC.
The advertisement starts off with Sharma in a pink dress, heading out after a bath with the Lux soap. As she steps out, she is confronted by Kohli, mesmerised by Sharma’s moonlike glow from Lux. Kohli, who is in awe of Sharma’s brilliance, breaks into a quick jig with a modern rendition of Mohammed Rafi’s ‘Yeh Chand Sa Roshan Chehra’ from Kashmir Ki Kali, around which the campaign is based.

While speaking about the campaign, Lux’s Global Vice President Severine Vauleon said, “The challenge given to the team was to re-launch Lux and communicate the benefit of moonlit glow by giving the brand a fresh perspective which is modern and culturally relevant. Whilst there was a brand story to be told, we wanted to narrate it in an engaging manner. And to do so for audiences across regions, nothing better than leveraging popular culture with multiple language songs which depict ‘moonlit glow’ that’s compared a woman’s beauty to the moon.”
Kishore Tadepalli, Managing Partner and Senior Vice President of Wunderman Thompson, who conceptualized the campaign added, “This film is part of the campaign conceptualized by Wunderman Thompson South Asia, where the agency explored the thought of creating a locally tailored campaign for multiple regions within the country with multilingual songs, that brought alive the brand’s proposition of comparing a woman’s beauty to the moon, an often used metaphor in Indian cinema.”
Kohli and Sharma aren’t the first celebrity couple to be roped in by Lux. Previously actors Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan and Abhishek Bachchan, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also starred in Lux campaigns.
