Vivek Sethia analyses Indian Super League’s issues and future

Vivek Sethia, the founder and CEO of India on Track, recently discussed the Indian Super League’s (ISL) pyramid structure and the state of the league on his YouTube channel Breaking Sports with Vivek Sethia.

The premise of the ISL, how investments are made, its structure (comprising the league, the youth academies and the grassroots framework), and the future of the ISL are all covered in the video.

Sethia outlined three key structural problems with the ISL:

  • broadcast rights conflict of interest;
  • unsustainability for the franchises; and
  • investment in other parts of the ISL pyramid.

The video also covered potential fixes for the aforementioned problems as well as what to anticipate from the ISL regardless of whether the situation is resolved or not.
