Day 2 of the Women’s Premier League will play host to a clash of the titans with the table toppers from the last two seasons – Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals – resuming their hostility at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, Gujarat, on 15th February 2025.
The two best teams in the WPL over the last two seasons – statistically. It is quite likely that either one or both of them would end up contesting in the final on 15th March at the Brabourne Stadium.
The Mumbai Indians – winners of the inaugural edition – fell short at the Eliminator last season chasing a modest 136 target set by the Royal Challengers Bangalore while the Delhi Capitals, after dominating the league stage like the 2023 season, capitulated in the final last season.
Looking at the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy fixtures played at this venue, wickets here offer something for everyone. There were a few high scoring encounters, a few where spinners found assistance and some favouring seamers. It’ll most likely depend on which pitch gets used for this fixture.
On paper, these are the two strongest squads in the WPL, full of superstars and young promising prospects. There’s very little to choose between the two franchises, however, if I’ve to pick one, I’ll go with Delhi Capitals because of their balanced bowling attack.
