WPL 2025 Match 2 | Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals | Preview and Predictions

Match 2 of the 2025 Women’s Premier League (WPL) season will witness a clash of the titans as the table toppers from the last two seasons in the Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Capitals resume hostilities at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.

Women’s Premier League 2025 Match 2 | Group Stage | Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals I 19:30 IST, February 15

Statistically, these two have been the best, most consistent teams since the WPL’s inauguration. It is quite likely at least of them make the final on March 15 at the Brabourne Stadium.

The Mumbai Indians, winners of the inaugural edition, fell short at the Eliminator last season while chasing a modest 136 target set by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, while the Delhi Capitals, after dominating the league stage last year just as they did in the 2023 season, capitulated in the final.

Looking at the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy fixtures played at this venue, wickets here offer something for everyone. There have been some few-high scoring encounters, a few where spinners found assistance, and others where seamers were favoured. What happens this time round will depend on which pitch gets used for this fixture.

On paper, these are the two strongest squads in the WPL, full of superstars and up-and-coming prospects. There’s very little to choose between the two sides, though we give the Capitals a slight edge here because of their balanced bowling attack.

Fantasy XI: Nandini Kashyap (wk), Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Meg Lanning, Hayley Kristen Matthews (vc), Nat Sciver-Brunt (c), Shikha Pandey, Arundhati Reddy, Jess Jonassen, Pooja Vastrakar, Shabnim Ismail

Venue: Vadodara, Gujarat
Winners Prediction: Delhi Capitals
