Match Number 13 of the 2026 Women’s Premier League sees two floundering sides come up against each other as the Delhi Capitals take on the Mumbai Indians with both teams eager to bring their respective campaigns back on track after a series of disappointing performances.
Here is the Preview and Prediction for the game
It has been safe to say that Jemimah Rodrigues has not had the best start to life as a captain with the Delhi Capitals. With 3 losses in 4 in the Navi Mumbai leg, she and her Capitals side are languishing at the bottom of the table. While there have been green shoots of promise, the performance of the team as a unit has left a lot to be desired.
Despite the emergence of Nandani Sharma with the ball, the bowling has been rather underwhelming and has flattered to deceive throughout the tournament so far. Bar Nandani, no one has been able to take wickets at a consistent clip and that has left them woefully short in the games that they have lost so far.
The batting unit has been performing pretty well as a whole. Lizelle Lee, Laura Wolwaardt, and Shafali have all pitched in with crucial half-centuries, with Lee currently 4th in the leading run-getters list, but for some reason they have just not been able to get over the line, with their 4-run defeat against the Gujarat Giants being a massive case in point. Failure to get 7 runs from 6 balls is a cardinal sin and that is exactly what the Capitals were guilty of. With their season already edging towards the do-or-die territory, they will hope that the new surroundings of Vadodara will bring a drastic change in fortunes for Jemimah and her team.
Their opponents, the Mumbai Indians have been no great shakes either. Back-to-back comprehensive defeats against the UP Warriorz have sucked out all the positive momentum that they had carried on the back of two successive victories, which now seems like a long time ago. Their second game against the Warriorz saw them tinker with the opening combination once again, with Sajeevan Sajana the latest partner up top with Hayley Matthews. But once again it did not change the side’s fortunes, with Sajana perishing early, thereby leading to another batting powerplay for the defending champions where runs were scored at a snail’s pace. MI’s batting powerplay record in this tournament stands at the bottom of the list, and a poor opening performance is the chief reason for it.
MI have been a decent bowling side, but they do tend to go for a little bit of tap in the later stages of the game, as seen against RCB and the Gujarat Giants. MI will have to avoid making so many small mistakes because this will end up costing them a chance to defend their title.
With all things said and done, we still put the Mumbai Indians as the favourites to win this game, given that they managed to beat the Capitals rather convincingly in the reverse fixture when the two sides met very early in the season.
