Yorkshire County Cricket Club (YCCC) has announced a new partnership with metaverse platform Virtua. The new deal will see Virtua become the Official Metaverse Partner of the club for the remainder of the 2022 season and beyond.
The agreement will see Virtua branding feature at Yorkshire’s home ground for both international and domestic matches. Virtua will also work with YCCC to launch a number of NFT collections.
Speaking about the deal, Jawad Ashraf, CEO, Virtua, commented:
“We’re excited to be partnering with Yorkshire County Cricket Club, discussions are already taking place around what could be our first NFT collection.
“Following Williams Racing, it’s another great partnership for us to explore activities that will transition into our soon-to-launch metaverse.“
Andy Dawson, Chief Operating Officer, Yorkshire, added:
“Virtua are the ideal partner to collaborate with as we look to take Yorkshire County Cricket Club to the next stage in fan engagement, the metaverse. We’ve been interested in exploring NFTs for some time, what they can offer our fans in terms of real-world utility and in the metaverse.“
