Mexico have been very consistent and enter the Round of 32 as one of the only three sides to have registered 3 wins in all three games of the Group Stages this tournament, with France and Argentina, last World Cup’s finalists being the other two.

They defend in numbers and attack in numbers as well, making them a well-drilled side with a balance in defensive organisation and attacking threat.
Ecuador have made the knockouts for the first time in their history on the back of their incredible win against Germany in the final Group stage game to help them go through as one of the third place teams.
Ecuador have been renowned for their defensive prowess, with their defence arguably staking a claim to be the best defence in World Football at the moment. It is the bedrock of their consistency in recent times.
However, where they make up in spades with their defense, their attack leaves a lot to be desired. They create chances but do not have the composure or the accuracy to bury them, making 0-0 their most frequent scoreline. However, if they do manage to get the goal, they know that they can bank on their defence to get the job done for them.
