Scuderia Ferrari have announced that Mick Schumacher will not be continuing with them from next season onwards. Ferrari and Schumacher, who worked together for four years, saw the latter serve as a part of the Ferrari Driver Academy.
Mick Schumacher, son of Ferrari legend Michael Schumacher, joined the Ferrari Driver Academy in 2019 and took part in Formula 2 with Prema Racing. He won the Formula 2 Championship in 2020 and was given a Formula One race seat in 2021 with American team Haas. He spent two seasons with Haas, starting 43 races for the team and scoring 12 points during that time with a best finish of P6 at the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix. Along with his role as a driver for Haas, Schumacher also served as a reserve driver for Ferrari during the 2022 season.
Towards the latter part of the 2022 Formula One season, Haas announced that Nico Hülkenberg would replace Schumacher for the 2023 season.
Whilst he doesn’t have a race seat for the upcoming season, Schumacher has been linked with German Formula One team Mercedes for a reserve role, and given that his father Michael drove for the team, the Schumacher family shares a close bond with the Mercedes team.
