The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has announced a renewal of their partnership with Malaysian content and entertainment provider, Astro, who will continue on as AFC’s Official Media Partner in Malaysia. The partnership will see Astro provide ‘comprehensive coverage’ of Asian football to fans across the globe and they will continue to hold the media rights for the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027. Other events that Astro will have rights to will be all the games of the AFC Champions League Elite, the AFC Champions League Two and the AFC Women’s Champions League from 2026 through to 2028/29.
Datuk Seri Windsor John, General Secretary, AFC, said,
“Astro has been a fantastic partner in growing the footprint of the Asian game in Malaysia, and we are confident they will continue to deliver captivating, multi-platform viewing experiences for Asia’s premier football tournaments. Renewing our long-standing alliance with Astro reflects our shared vision of bringing the Continent’s world-class AFC competitions closer to fans and we look forward to working hand-in-hand with Astro to deepen football engagement and showcase the incredible talent across Asia.”
Patrick Murphy, Chief Executive Officer of Asia Football Group, added,
“As the home of the AFC, Malaysia sits at the heart of Asian football, and this renewal keeps fans connected to AFC competitions through to 2028/29. Astro has been a long-term media partner of the AFC and we are delighted to continue our partnership for more seasons to come.”
Nicholas John, Head of Sports, Astro, added,
“Our renewed partnership with the AFC underscores Astro’s commitment to bringing Malaysian fans closer to the very best of Asian football. From the AFC Asian Cup to the region’s top-tier club competitions, we are proud to continue delivering every defining moment, live and across multiple platforms—including Astro Arena (CH 801 & 802), Astro Football (CH 814), Astro GO, NJOI and Sooka—to fans nationwide. As viewing habits evolve, we remain focused on innovating the sports experience—making it more accessible, immersive, and engaging than ever.
