Alpine gets massive investment including from Ryan Reynolds

Hollywood actor part of group who invests in Alpine.

French Formula One team Alpine have received a  €200 million investment from a group of investors, which includes Hollywood actor, Ryan Reynolds. The group’s main goal is to bring the French team back on top of Formula One and support their vision.

The group includes the likes of Otro Capital, RedBird Capital Partners and Maximum Effort Investments and they have acquired a 24% stake in the Alpine team, as they price their value of Alpine at €900 million. Otro Capital’s co-found Alec Scheiner will join Alpine’s Board of Directors while RedBird boasts of a strong portfolio, including the third-largest stake in Fenway Sports Group. Maximum Effort Investments is led by Hollywood actors Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, who own Wrexham FC and fellow Hollywood actor, Michael B Jordan will also join as a co-investor.

Luca de Meo, CEO, Renault Group, said.

“Formula 1 and Alpine are strategic assets for the Renault Group. Over the past two years, we have re-ignited Alpine, capitalising on its iconic A110 sports coupe, boosting it by entering Formula 1, where it aims to become a championship contender. This partnership will accelerate Alpine F1 development by diversifying revenue drivers and increasing brand value.”

Laurent Rossi, CEO, Alpine, stated,

“This association is an important step to enhance our performance at all levels. First, Otro Capital, RedBird Capital Partners and Maximum Effort Investments, as international players with strong track record in the sports industry, will bring their recognised expertise to boost our media and marketing strategy, essential to support our sporting performance over the long term.

‘Second, the incremental revenue generated will in turn be reinvested in the team, in order to further accelerate our Mountain Climber plan, aimed at catching up with top teams in terms of state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.”

Alpine’s goals lie not only with their Formula One team but they have also stressed the importance of their engine operations in Viry-Chatillon.
