The last group stage match of the 2025 Asia Cup brings us a clash between India and Oman at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on September 19, 2025.
For the game, here are our preview and predictions.
This is quite simply a David versus Goliath affair. While India have won both their group games so far comfortably, Oman have struggled to put points on the board with two losses out of two games.
Oman had a great chance to beat the UAE, but a batting collapse meant they lost that game as well. The UAE batted first in the match and posted a competitive 172/5 with the help of Muhammad Waseem (69 off 54) and Alishan Sharafu (51 off 38). For Oman, Jitenkumar Ramanandi bowled well and ended with figures of 2/24.
In response, Oman were bowled out for 130. Aryan Bisht was the top scorer with 24 runs off 32 balls, while Junaid Siddique was the pick of the UAE bowlers with figures of 4/23 in his four overs.
India’s previous encounter was against arch-rivals Pakistan. Batting first, the Men in Green could only manage a paltry total of 127/9, with the Indian spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav (3/18) and Axar Patel (2/18) wreaking havoc on their batters. Only Sahibzada Farhan (40 off 44) and Shaheen Afridi (33* off 16) offered any resistance to the Indian bowling attack.
In response, India scored 131/3 inside 16 overs to win the match. Captain Suryakumar Yadav’s steady knock (47* off 37) and Abhishek Sharma’s quickfire 31 off 13 ensured India got to the target comfortably. Saim Ayub bowled well for Pakistan, taking all three Indian wickets, but the chase was simply too easy for the Men in Blue.
This is a difficult game for Oman to win; the reigning T20 world champions are simply too superior in all departments. India could also rotate a few players for this match and rest the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav. Based on Oman’s performances in the Asia Cup thus far, it’s hard to see them upsetting India in any way in this game.
