British Formula One team Aston Martin have announced a new sponsorship deal with Citi Private Bank ahead of the 2023 Formula One season.

The partnership is an extension of Citi’s long-standing partnership with two-time Formula One champion Fernando Alonso, who has joined the team ahead of the 2023 season, replacing Sebastian Vettel, who retired at the end of the 2022 Formula One season. The partnership will put the Citi branding on the halo of the Aston Martin race cars.

Alonso and Citi have maintained a partnership since 2016, when the Spaniard was driving for McLaren.

Jefferson Slack, AMF1 Managing Director, Commercial & Marketing, commented:

We are delighted to begin our partnership with Citi. It’s an exciting new energy for AMF1 and we are glad to welcome Citi onboard our journey as we fight for the front of the F1 grid. Citi’s sponsorship is the latest addition to our fantastic portfolio of partners, and we look forward to supporting Citi’s aim of driving deeper engagement within their communities.

The well-established relationship with Fernando perfectly complements this new sponsorship and we look forward to developing a programme of activity that drives positive change together.

Jim O’Donnell, Executive Vice Chairman, Client Engagement, Citi, added:

Building on our relationship with Fernando while joining forces with AMF1 is a tremendous opportunity to leverage the global platform of the sport. Through this relationship, Citi will continue to reach our clients in new and exciting ways while delivering unique experiences around the world.
