David de Gea launches eSports organisation

The Spanish shot-stopper launches his own organisation — Rebels Gaming.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has taken his first steps into the world of eSports as he has launched his own eSports organisation — Rebels Gaming. The organisation will initially compete in League of Legends, Rainbow Six Siege and VALORANT.

Based out of Valdebebas, Madrid, where it will have its own training centre, Rebels Gaming will also sport its own streamers and in-house content creators. It already has former professional Rainbow Six Siege player Yeray ‘DriD‘ González and Alvar “Araneae” Martín on board, with the latter announced as Rebels Gaming’s Official Esports Director.

Speaking about the launch of his organisation, De Gea said:

The launch of Rebels Gaming within esports is another dream come true.

It is a project that aims to instil to the new generations of young people the main values ??that have accompanied me since my beginnings in professional football, within a framework of innovation and unparalleled technological development.

The digital age and the latest technologies create a new playing field in which to develop new capabilities and new dreams. Let’s take advantage of this great opportunity and develop a better society.

We want to enhance motivation, leadership, resilience, the management of situations of success, defeat, and above all, teamwork.

De Gea isn’t the first footballer to delve into the eSports industry, with his teammate Jesse Lingard already owning JLINGZ, Sergio Agüero having his own organisation in KRÜ Esports, and Harry Maguire currently serving as a brand ambassador for UK-based eSports organisation, Semper Fortis Esports.
