Indian Premier League side Delhi Capitals have partnered with cricket metaverse company FanCraze, which will see them create Web 3.0 experiences and issue digital collectibles.
The partnership will also see the Capitals become the first-ever IPL team to launch their own non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Vinod Bisht, Interim CEO, Delhi Capitals, commented:
“Delhi Capitals is proud to partner with FanCraze, and to launch the Indian cricket ecosystem into the next generation of sports-based assets and apps.
“We will be debuting the first Delhi Capitals NFTs in early June and are really excited to give our dans the ability to own a piece of their favourite team and players. FanCraze has shown us what is possible if one combines creators, cricketers, content, and commerce.”
Anshum Bhambri, CEO of FanCraze, added:
“FanCraze is pioneering new innovations in sports-based digital collectibles with its cricket NFT marketplace and games like FanCraze Flash. The partnership with Delhi Capitals will allow us to further accelerate our foray into play-to-earn gaming and to bring-to-market new offerings for Indian cricket fans.”
FanCraze recently had also partnered with the Women’s T20 Challenge and had kicked off the cricket metaverse through their partnership with the International Cricket Council (ICC).
