Emely de Heus joins MP Motorsports for F1 Academy

Dutch motor-racer Emely de Heus has signed for MP Motorsports for the upcoming F1 Academy season. The Dutch team now have De Heus on board alongside Emirati racers Amna and Hamda Al Qubaisi.

De Heus made her motor racing debut with MP Motorsport in 2021 in the Spanish Formula 4. She went on to win the 2021 Female Trophy. Having raced in the W Series in 2022, the Dutch racer most recently took part in the UAE Formula 4 Championship, which was with MP Motorsport as well.

De Heus said:

It feels great to be back with MP, they are like a second home to me. I had a wonderful time with MP back in 2021, and with the added experience that I gained with them I look forward to putting that to good use in my first season in F1 Academy. I can’t wait to get started for the first round at the Red Bull Ring in April and will especially enjoy racing in front of my home crowd at Zandvoort in June.

Sander Dorsman, Team Principal, MP Motorsports, said:

I’m delighted to welcome Emely back into the MP fold. She proved to be a great asset in 2021, and I have no doubt that she will feature strongly in F1 Academy’s first year of action. With five of the leading teams on the single-seater ladder to Formula 1 supporting F1 Academy, the future is looking bright for the series, and Emely will be a well-deserved part of that.

The F1 Academy is an all-female driver series and is set to have 15 drivers on the grid, with the likes of ART, Campos Racing, Carlin, MP Motorsport and PREMA Racing all fielding three cars each. The event aims to develop and grow the young female drivers and get them ready for the highest level of motorsport.

The inaugural F1 Academy season is set to have seven events with three races each, which means a total of 21 races and 15 days of testing. The season is set to kick off with the Austrian Grand Prix on April 29, 2023, with the season finale scheduled to be the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, on October 22, 2023.
