FIFA Club World Cup 2025 | Group B: Seattle Sounders vs Paris Saint-Germain| Preview and Predictions

This Group B encounter of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will be played between Major League Soccer club Seattle Sounders FC and the French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain FC on June 24th at the Lumen Field Stadium in Seattle.

Here’s our preview and prediction for the game.

FIFA Club World Cup 2025 | Group B: Seattle Sounders FC vs Paris Saint-Germain FC| 00:30 IST, June 24

Seattle Sounders and PSG both go into this game desperate for a good outcome as Sounders are winless going into this encounter while PSG were stunned by South American club Botafogo de Futbol e Regatas after having beaten Atlético comprehensively in their opening fixture.

Midfielder Pablo Barrios was the star of the show for LaLiga side as his brace – one goal on either side of the half ensured the win against the Sounders. Atlético started brightly and reaped the reward in the 11th minute from a Barrios strike that rattled the underside of the bar. Before half-time, Atlético were awarded a penalty but the on-field referee Yael Falcon Perez reversed his decision after the VAR consultation.

Two minutes into the second half, Axel Witsel doubled the advantage with a header into the net. Three minutes later, Sounders cut the deficit to one Albert Rusnák scored from close-range on a deflected shot after Atlético failed to deal with Seattle’s initial ball into the box. Barrios completed his brace in the 55th minute with a half-volley into the far corner past goalkeeper Stefan Frei after Seattle failed to clear Marcos Llorente’s long throw from the right.

After this loss against Atlético, Sounders are the only team without a win in this group.

As for PSG, they opened their Club World Cup with a resounding 4-0 win against Atlético de Madrid. However, they were surprised by the 2024 Brazilian champions and Copa Libertadores winners, Botafogo. The Brazilian club won the match by a solitary goal scored by Igor Jesus in the 36th minute.

The Brazilians became the first team to stop PSG from scoring since March when Liverpool defeated them 1-0 away in the Champions League Round of 16 first-leg. The French side had scored in 19 consecutive games until this game at the Club World Cup. The Botafogo team made it really difficult for PSG to score against them.

Coming to this match up, Seattle Sounders could find it very difficult to contain PSG as their forward players are full of skills and goal scoring prowess. The likes of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doue, Gonçalo Ramos and Bradley Barcola are a huge threat upfront. In addition, their flying fullbacks Nuno Mendes and Achraf Hakimi provide the width and attacking output from the flanks. Vitinha and João Neves provide the control in midfield. While Seattle Sounders don’t have the players who can compete with the might of PSG, some of their players can still be a menace. Albert Rusnák, Paul Rothrock and Cristian Roldan are the players to watch for in this Seattle Sounders team.

In my opinion, PSG should be winning this match comfortably as Seattle Sounders may have a few decent players but simply lack the firepower to compete with the best team in Europe.

Score Predictions: Seattle Sounders FC 0-3 Paris Saint-Germain FC

Venue: Lumen Field Stadium, Seattle, Washington
