FIFA backs Homeless World Cup Foundation

The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the world football-governing body, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Homeless World Cup Foundation (HWCF), organiser of the Homeless World Cup, to officially support the event and broadcast it on its own streaming platform, FIFA+.

FIFA will also provide the necessary material and equipment for the Homeless World Cup, which will include trophies and medals.

The upcoming edition of the Homeless World Cup will take place later this year between September 21 and 28 in Seoul, South Korea.

FIFA and the HWCF will also work on various co-branding projects, including pitch-side branding at the grounds and across digital assets and social media platforms.

I am delighted that FIFA will be supporting this wonderful tournament and partnering with the Homeless World Cup Foundation. The Homeless World Cup is a perfect example of how football can bring people together to challenge existing social perceptions and improve people’s lives. The #HomelessWorldCup is a perfect example of how football can bring people together to challenge existing social perceptions and improve people’s lives. FIFA is excited to contribute because we share the view of the Homeless World Cup Foundation that football is a force for good.

Starting from the upcoming edition in Seoul, FIFA will contribute to ensuring that this tournament continues to make a real impact that supports homeless people all across the world.

Mel Young, President, Homeless World Cup, added:

1.2 million people have benefited from the initiative since it was born in 2003. Sport has real power, and we have proved that it can be a force for good. FIFA is committed to supporting those in need so a partnership between the Homeless World Cup and FIFA is natural. Longer term the impact will be very significant.

Yomi Kuku, Team Director, Nigeria, said:

This is in its mission to challenge existing social perceptions and Improve people’s lives globally. This partnership will help amplify the message and impact of the Homeless World Cup, bringing attention to the important work being done to support homeless and vulnerable individuals through football. Also, it is pleasing to know that the upcoming Homeless World Cup games will be broadcast on FIFA+, which I believe would provide global reach and exposure for the tournament. It also increased visibility for the social causes and issues addressed by the Homeless World Cup.
