Following are the companies and organisations that serve as sponsors and brand partners to Big Bash League franchise, the Hobart Hurricanes, and enjoy a strong branding presence across their physical and digital assets.
PRINCIPAL BBL PARTNER
The Melbourne, Victoria-based Australian money-lending company was announced as the Principal Partner of the Hurricanes’ BBL team and an Official Partner of their WBBL team in November 2021 on a two-year deal.
As part of the branding rights, the RedZed logo features most prominently on the front and back of the Hurricanes’ playing shirts, as well as on their training and travel kits.
The Mondelēz-owned, Uxbridge-based confectionery giant opened its first Australian factory in Claremont, Tasmania in 1922. Since then, it has maintained close ties with the Australian state, which today sees the company holding multiple partnerships with organisations across various walks of life.
To the Hobart Hurricanes, Cadbury Australia has been an Official Major Partner since July 2018. Since then, the Cadbury logo has featured on the playing shirts of the franchise’s BBL and WBBL teams, with the brand currently serving as a “chest” sponsor on the front of Hurricanes playing shirts.
The Hurricanes and Cadbury Australia last renewed their partnership in a two-season agreement in December 2021. Along with the continuation of the presence of Cadbury’s logo on the Hurricanes’ playing shirts, the renewed deal saw the launch of the CADBURY A Catch & a Half program, according to which Cadbury makes an AU$500 donation to the Hurricanes for every catch taken at the Blundstone Area (Hurricanes home ground) during a BBL season that results in a wicket. This initiative is aimed at supporting local Tasmanian cricket clubs. For BBL|11, the selected clubs are: Brighton District Cricket Club, Port Sorell Cricket Club, Westbury Cricket Club and the ACL Cricket Club in Mowbray.
The Sydney, New South Wales-based beverage company, offering alcoholic and non-alcoholic products across Australia and New Zealand, also serves as an Official Major Partner to the Hobart Hurricanes.
The Moonah, Tasmania-headquartered Australian footwear brand also serves as an Official Major Partner to the Hobart Hurricanes. Blundstone also holds the naming rights to the home ground of the Hurricanes’ men’s team, which is thusly called the Blundstone Arena (otherwise known as Bellerive Oval).
Owned by the Melbourne-based Wilson Group, private security company Wilson Security has been a long-time partner of the Hurricanes. The two last renewed their partnership in December 2021, adding another two years to an already six-year-strong partnership.
As per the deal, as part of the branding rights, the Wilson Security logo features on Hurricanes players’ playing and training headwear. Since the 2021 agreement, the partnership also covers the franchise’s WBBL team.
A business enterprise of the Tasmanian Government, state electricity generator Hydro Tasmania first joined hands with the Hurricanes in a three-year deal in October 2020 that also included Cricket Tasmania, the cricket-governing body of the Australian state of Tasmania. Apart from branding rights, the deal was intended for Hydro Tasmania to support Hurricanes and Cricket Tasmania projects both on and off the field.
At the time, Hydro Tasmania was announced as an Official Partner of the Hurricanes’ BBL team and the Official Coaches Partner of both the BBL and the WBBL sides of the franchise, which would see the Hydro Tasmania logo feature on the BBL team’s playing shirts as well as on Hurricanes coaches’ uniforms.
In October 2021, this partnership was expanded, making Hydro Tasmania the Principal Partner of the Hurricanes’ WBBL team. Currently, Hydro Tasmania serves as the principal front-of-matchday-shirt sponsor to the Hurricanes’ WBBL team and the matchday-shirt-sleeve sponsor to their BBL team, with its logo also featuring on the uniforms of all Hurricanes coaches across the BBL and the WBBL.
University of Tasmania
The Tasmania-based Australian public research university also serves as an Official Partner to the Hurricanes. Its sports ground York Park, alternatively known as University of Tasmania Stadium, serves as the second home to the franchise’s BBL and WBBL teams throughout their respective campaigns.
The Flying Colours Group
The Kings Meadows, Tasmania-headquartered Australian printing services, creatives and signage solutions provider was announced as the Official Signage and Printing Partner of the Hobart Hurricanes (as well as Cricket Tasmania) in June 2021 on a three-year deal.
The Melbourne-headquartered Australian sports equipment manufacturer is the official supplier of cricket balls to the Hurricanes, apart from being the official match ball supplier to the BBL. Hurricanes-themed cricket bats can also be purchased from Kookaburra’s online store.
The Winchester, Hampshire-headquartered British protective cricketing equipment manufacturer also serves as an Official Partner to the Hobart Hurricanes.
Southern Cross Austereo (SCA)
The Melbourne, Victoria-headquartered Australian media company also serves as an Official Partner to the Hobart Hurricanes.
