As we come to the business end of the Super Eight, we have two important games lined up ahead of us on day 22 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. We have Afghanistan battling to keep their campaign alive against the mighty Australians while it’s both England and the U.S.A who are fighting for survival as well in their game.
Here’s our predictions for Day 22 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
After going down to India in their opening game, it’s a do-or-die game for Afghanistan when they take on the red-hot Australian side. Afghanistan had a strong Group Stage run but fell short at the hands of the Indian bowling lineup and a Suryakumar Yadav special.
Australia on the other hand have been clinical in all of their games and look like the team to beat. All the boxes seem to be checked and it looks like it is Australia’s World Cup to lose. With the batters firing and Adam Zampa, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and even Marcus Stoinis regularly amongst the wickets, the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 champions look all set for another trophy.
While Afghanistan will come hard at the Australians, expect the Australians to walk away with the win and effectively book their semi-final spot.
Fantasy XI: David Warner, Travis Head, Rahmanullah Gurbaaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Glenn Maxwell, Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood, Fazalaq Farooqi
Venue: Kingstown
Winner Prediction: Australia
Two teams at the bottom of Group 2 at the Super Eights at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, England and co-hosts the United States of America go up against each other in a crucial Group 2 Super Eights game which will knock the team out from the semi-final contention.
England had the chase under control right up until the end when the Proteas tightened the screws at the death to hand Jos Buttler and co. a heavy defeat and the English team would be looking to bounce back strongly. Against a formidable English team, it’s too much of a task for the co-hosts and we should be in for an England win.
Fantasy XI: Phil Salt, Jos Buttler, Andres Gous. Aaron Jones, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Corey Anderson, Saurabh Netravalkar, Jofra Archer, Reece Topley, Harmeet Singh
Venue: Bridgetown
Winner Prediction: England
