Men’s T20 WC 2024 Match 50: South Africa v West Indies

In what was virtually a knockout fixture, the West Indies batted first and put on a somewhat competitive score of 135. Roston Chase was the only batter who knocked it around and made a valuable 52. At the top of the order, Kyle Mayers contributed with 35 off 34. South Africa’s wrist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi was brilliant with the ball, picking up three wickets for 27 runs.

While chasing a reduced total of 123 based on DLS in 17 overs, the Proteas didn’t make the task any easier for themselves. During the chase, they were 15/2 after the end of the second over. They continued losing wickets at regular intervals but never allowed the asking rate to get out of hand. In the end, Marco Jansen’s 21 off 14 at the death got the job done with three wickets in the shed.

First innings: West Indies 135/8 in 20 overs
Second innings: South Africa 124/7 in 16.1 of 17 overs (the DLS target was 123)

Men’s T20 WC 2024 Match 51: India v Australia

In what was a must-win game for Australia, it was India who came out victorious by 24 runs.

After batting first, captain Rohit Sharma led the way with a fearless 92 off 41, which helped his team get to a 200+ total.

In a chase that needed over ten runs an over, the Aussies kept pace while Travis Head was batting alongside skipper Mitchell Marsh. After Axar Patel’s stunning catch on the boundary helped get rid of Marsh (37 off 28) at the end of the ninth over, though, the tide turned.

Although Glenn Maxwell delivered a couple of lusty blows, Patel and Kuldeep Yadav restricted the run flow through the middle period. Yadav was the best on the day as he picked up two for 24, while Jasprit Bumrah got the job done at the death.

First innings: India 205/5 in 20 overs
Second innings: Australia 181/7 in 20 overs
