Match 11 of the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will see South Africa take on Scotland.
While the Proteas will look to shrug off the loss against England, Scotland will be desperate to go back from the World Cup with at least a win.
South Africa lost their last group stage match against England as their batters struggled against the English spinners. Only Laura Wolvaardt and Marizanne Kapp contributed significantly to the below-par score of 124/7. In response, England managed to win comfortably, even if the game went to the last over.
Against Scotland, the South Africans will want to bounce back and qualify for the knockouts with a win. However, Scotland can’t be taken for granted.
The Scots came into this World Cup as one of the inexperienced sides, and it has showed as their batting hasn’t clicked in either of the two matches they have played. Their last match against the West Indies saw them manage a paltry 99/8 in their 20 overs, which the Windies chased with ease. If they want to win against a strong batting side like South Africa, Scotland will need a score of 140+ to challenge if they get to bat first.
South Africa are definitely the stronger side in this encounter; it’s highly unlikely Scotland pull off a win here. The Proteas should see this one through easily barring a batting collapse.
