Indian Olympic Association Sponsors

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is the organisation tasked with selecting athletes for the major international events, including the Olympics, the Asian Games, and the Commonwealth Games.

Going into the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, here are the companies working with the IOA and holding branding rights across its physical and digital assets as its National Sponsors.

THE NATIONAL SPONSORS

MPL Sports Foundation – The community initiative of the Bangalore-headquartered mobile esports and fantasy sports platform signed a deal with the IOA in June 2021 to become the Principal Partner of the Indian contingents at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as well as the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games in 2022. Moreover, MPL’s sportswear brand, MPL Sports, became the official kit partner of the Indian contingents until 2022. MPL Sports Foundation also intends to leverage the partnership to spread awareness regarding the esports across the country, since esports will be part of the 2022 Asian Games.

INOX Group – The Indian conglomerate was announced as a National Sponsor of the IOA in August 2020 and will be sponsoring the Indian contingent at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. As per the deal, via INOX Leisure, the subsidiary that operates in the entertainment sector, the Group oversees ad campaigns to promote the Indian athletes set to participate in the upcoming Olympics.

Nippon Paint – The Osaka-headquartered paint and paint products manufacturer announced itself as an official partner of the IOA in July 2020, pledging its allegiance with the Indian contingent ahead of the Tokyo Olympics with the #StrongerTogether campaign, via which it also aimed to rally the country together amidst the ongoing COVID pandemic.

Edelweiss Group – The Mumbai-headquartered Indian financial services provider signed a long-term deal with the IOA in February 2018 to sponsor the Indian contingents, covering the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games (2018), the National Games (2018 and 2019), and the Olympics (Tokyo 2020). To kick off the partnership, via its insurance subsidiary, Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance, the Group offered INR 50 lakh as insurance cover for each Indian athlete at the 2018 CWG. Earlier 2016, it had provided an INR 1 crore cover to Indian athletes at the Rio Olympics.
