Match 11 of the 2025 Indian Premier League season brings us a match-up between the Rajasthan Royals and the Chennai Super Kings at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati on March 30.
For the game, here are our preview and predictions.
The Rajasthan Royals (RR) haven’t really started the season well, having lost both of their first two encounters. Their recent fixture was against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) which they lost comprehensively by 8 wickets with 15 balls to spare.
Put into bat, the RR batters never really got going and could only manage a below-par total of 151/9. Dhruv Jurel (33 off 28 balls) was the top scorer for the Royals with support from Yashasvi Jaiswal (29 off 24 balls). None of their other batters could contribute. For the KKR, three of their bowlers took two wickets each, Varun Chakaravarthy ending with impressive figures of 2/17.
In response, the KKR batters chased the total down with relative ease, opener Quinton de Kock (97 off 61 balls) led the KKR to victory. Ajinkya Rahane (18 off 15 balls) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (22 off 17 balls) acted as the supporting cast to take their side home.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) played the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their recent encounter. CSK won the toss and put RCB in to bat. Phil Salt (32 off 16 balls) gave them a quick start with captain Rajat Patidar (51 off 32 balls) contributing as well.A late blitz from Tim David (22 off 8 balls) propelled the Royal Challengers to a massive 196/7 in their 20 overs. Noor Ahmad took 3/36 for CSK in his four overs.
In the chase, the Super Kings were reeling at 30-3 after the powerplay and CSK couldn’t get over from this poor start. On a slow pitch, the RCB bowlers bowled the right lengths and took wickets at regular intervals to keep the pressure on the CSK batters. With the required run-rate mounting steadily, CSK batters couldn’t find the big shots and perished. Rachin Ravindra (41 off 31 balls) was the top scorer for CSK and a late flourish from MS Dhoni (30 off 16 balls) came far too late for the home team. CSK could only manage 146/8 in their 20 overs, losing the match by 50 runs.
The Chennai batting is a bit susceptible and seems to be heavily dependent on Rachin Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad while Rajasthan Royals have an explosive batting lineup where any of their top 5 batters can score big. The Royals have an edge in this one due to better quality batting and having lost both their previous matches, they would be desperate to get on the board.
Fantasy XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rachin Ravindra, Sanju Samson, Ruturaj Gaikwad (c), Shivam Dube, Shimron Hetmyer, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni(wk), Khaleel Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Noor Ahmad.
Venue: Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati
