IPL 2025 | Match 27: SRH vs PBKS | Preview and Predictions

Match 27 of the 2025 Indian Premier League season brings us a clash between the SunRisers Hyderabad and the Punjab Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on April 12.

For the game, here are our preview and predictions.

Indian Premier League 2025 | Match 27: SunRisers Hyderabad vs Punjab Kings | 19:30 IST, April 12

The hosts are in a spot of bother, having lost four games on the trot after a stellar opening win. Their explosive and fearless batting lineup has not been firing like last year, with the likes of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Heinrich Klaasen struggling to dominate opposition bowlers. Ever since making 286 in their opening game, SRH have failed to cross the 200-run mark, failing to hit even 170 in their last three innings.

Captain Pat Cummins and the management are aware of the firepower at their disposal. If the Hyderabad batters apply themselves a bit more, at home, they should be able to come good.

SRH’s bowling also has been a concern. Mohammed Shami hasn’t been among the wickets regularly, while Cummins has been a tad expensive. There isn’t much depth and experience in the bowling lineup either, with Jaydev Unadkat and Harshal Patel holding the key. Abhishek Sharma, Zeeshan Ansari, and Kamindu Mendis are the SunRisers’ main spinners, but none have been able to make an impact yet.

Facing SRH are the high-flying Punjab Kings, who have lost just one of their opening four games. Priyansh Arya has been a revelation for captain Shreyas Iyer, who has been in red-hot form with the bat himself. With the likes of Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis, there is plenty of experience and firepower in the Kings batting lineup, with Shashank Singh being a key finisher for them.

Arshdeep Singh and Marcos Jansen have been the lead seamers for PBKS. Given the experience at his disposal, Iyer has been masterfully rotating his bowlers, with the likes Maxwell and Stoinis regularly rolling their arms alongside Yuzvendra Chahal and Lockie Ferguson.

The Hyderabad strip has brought about plenty of high-scoring games. Ideally, we should be in for another run fest, and, given their respective fortunes, this should be a walk in the park for PBKS.

That said, we’re putting SRH as our favourites here. With their backs against the wall and having nowhere to go but up, we expect the wounded SunRisers to come back roaring and take the win here.

Fantasy XI: Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Shashank Singh, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Glenn Maxwell, Pat Cummins, Arshdeep Singh, Lockie Ferguson, Harshal Patel

Venue: Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad
Winners Prediction: SunRisers Hyderabad
