Aramco joins as the Orange and Purple Caps sponsor.
The Indian Premier League has signed a new partnership with Saudi Arabian oil firm Aramco, which will see the Saudi company become the title sponsor of the Orange and Purple Caps.
This is the first time the Purple and Orange Caps will have sponsors in the IPL.
The Purple Cap is awarded every season to the highest wicket-taker of the tournament, while the Orange Cap is given to the tournament’s highest run-scorer. Both caps will be renamed now to Aramco Orange Cap and Aramco Purple Cap. The multi-year deal is reported to be worth ?65 crore per year.
Aramco, which recently joined British Formula One team Aston Martin as title partner, will join the likes of TATA (Title Sponsor), Star Sports (Official Broadcaster), Hotstar (Official Digital Streaming Partner), Paytm (Umpire Partner), CEAT (Official Strategic Timeout Partner), Dream 11, Upstox, Unacademy, Swiggy Instamart, Cred and Rupay (Official Partners) as sponsors for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.
The 15th edition of the IPL will kick-off from March 26, with the Kolkata Knight Riders facing the Chennai Super Kings in the opening match. The league phase of the tournament will be held across four venues in Mumbai and Pune.
