Kapil Dev channels his inner Ranveer Singh in latest CRED ad

Former World Cup-winning captain latest to jump on the CRED bandwagon.

After having ads featuring former cricketers and Olympic medallists, CRED has roped in former Indian World Cup-winning skipper Kapil Dev for its latest ad.

In the advertisement, Dev can be seen on the cricket pitch in fashionable and vibrant outfits, much like those worn by Ranveer Singh. In a flashy avatar, Dev runs amok on the field, engaging in friendly banter with his opponents.

Dev himself posted the advertisement video on social media through his Twitter handle, sharing it on the occasion of the 2021 IPL final. Dev captioned the post, “Heads, I’m fashionable. Tails, I’m still fashionable.

Incidentally, it will be Ranveer Singh portraying Kapil Dev in the upcoming Bollywood movie ’83, which is based around India’s World Cup winning campaign in 1983. The role-reversal in the latest CRED ad has seen it go viral.

Aside from Kapil Dev, CRED’s previous ads have also featured Rahul Dravid, Venkatesh Prasad, Javagal Srinath and, most recently, Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra. The Bangalore-based fintech company is known for its cheeky advertisements, like showcasing Rahul Dravid as ‘Indiranagar ka Gunda’ and taking a jibe at the media attention and spotlight on Neeraj Chopra following his Olympic win.
