Liam Lawson to continue racing for Red Bull in Monza as well

Austrian Formula One team Red Bull Racing have announced that Liam Lawson will continue to partner with Max Verstappen for another race as their main driver Isack Hadjar is still injured and unavailable. Lawson, who stood in for Hadjar at the Dutch Grand Prix 2026 will race for Red Bull in Monza as well for this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix 2026.

Lawson, who races for Racing Bulls, was announced as Isack Hadjar’s replacement ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix 2026 due to Hadjar suffering a wrist injury during the summer break and Hadjar is still recovering from the injury which will see him miss out one more race. While Lawson will race for Red Bull, former Red Bull Racing and Racing Bulls driver Yuki Tsunoda will fill in for Lawson at Racing Bulls for the Italian Grand Prix 2026.

Lawson finished P7 in the Netherlands while Tsunoda narrowly missed out on points, finishing P11.

Red Bull released a statement, which read,

“Liam will drive alongside Max [Verstappen] at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, while Isack continues to make encouraging progress following the wrist injury sustained during the summer break. The team is closely monitoring his rehabilitation and will take no unnecessary risks with his return to competition and wishes him a speedy recovery.”

Racing Bulls’ statement read,

“Yuki will drive for the team at the Italian GP this weekend.”
