Liam Lawson to race for Red Bull Racing at Italian Grand Prix 2026

Red Bull Racing have confirmed that Liam Lawson will partner Max Verstappen for another race, with Isack Hadjar still injured and unavailable.

Lawson, who came in for Hadjar at the Dutch Grand Prix, will race for Red Bull in Monza for this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix. 

Lawson, who races for Racing Bulls, was announced as Hadjar’s replacement ahead of the Dutch GP due to Hadjar suffering a wrist injury over the summer break. The French-Algerian is still recovering from the injury and will sit out one more race.

While Lawson will race for Red Bull, former Red Bull and Racing Bulls driver Yuki Tsunoda will fill in for Lawson at Racing Bulls for the Italian GP as well. 

Lawson finished P7 in the Netherlands, while Tsunoda narrowly missed out on points, finishing P11.

Red Bull released a statement the following statement on the matter:

“Liam [Lawson] will drive alongside Max [Verstappen] at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, while Isack continues to make encouraging progress following the wrist injury sustained during the summer break.

“The Team is closely monitoring his rehabilitation and will take no unnecessary risks with his return to competition and wishes him a speedy recovery.”

Racing Bulls’ statement read:

“Yuki [Tsunoda] will drive for the team at the Italian GP this weekend.”
