Rafael Nadal

The 22-time Grand Slam champion and former World No. 1 was initially named in the US Open 2024 entry list, but he later withdrew citing fitness issues.

There has been a lot of speculation around Nadal’s inevitable retirement, with him having been battling persistent injuries all season that have further limited his participation in major events.

To the dismay of tennis fans all over the world, Nadal will not play in this US Open and is currently battling to get fit for the Laver Cup.

Nick Kyrgios

The temperamental Australian will also be missing from the US Open this year. Kyrgios last played competitive tennis in October 2022 and has played only one match since then. He has been dealing with persistent knee and wrist injuries.

Cameron Norrie

The British No. 2 is also going to be a huge miss in the Men’s Singles draw at the US Open this year. Norrie has been suffering from a forearm injury that has seen him sidelined for several weeks. He did try to return to competitive tennis and was earlier set to participate in the Cincinnati Open but couldn’t recover in time.

Ons Jabeur

The former US Open finalist Ons Jabeur has also withdrawn from the tournament citing a shoulder injury. The Tunisian is one of the top women’s seed and one of the crowd favourites here at the US Open.

Markéta Vondroušová

The 2023 Wimbledon champion is also set to miss the women’s draw this year. Vondroušová has had an unfortunate injury-plagued year this time round. She was also unable to defend her title at Wimbledon, crashing out in the first round.

Simona Halep

Former World No. 1 Simona Halep will also be a prominent miss from the US Open this year.

The Romanian has had a turbulent year riddled with injuries as well as a suspension. She last played in the Miami Open but struggled to find her game and exited in the first round. Since then, persistent knee issues have kept her out of action.
