Naomi Osaka leaves Adidas for Nike

World Tennis’ young superstar, Naomi Osaka, has left the house of Adidas to join hands with the rival brand, Nike. The announcement was made on April 4th.

On her association with Nike, Osaka said, “I’m proud to become a member of the Nike family and excited about getting involved in all of the opportunities Nike has to offer, Nike has a legendary track record of writing history, and I look forward to being a part of those moments for many years to come.”

Apparently, Osaka was offered an extension from Adidas, but she chose to deny it. She was even offered a sponsorship deal from leading Japanese brand, Uniqlo.

Osaka will have a wide range of Nike to chose from, however, in the upcoming matches, she will be seen wearing the Zoom Zero variant by the brand. Her first official competition in Nike gear will be the WTA Event in Stuttgart, beginning April 22, 2019.

Osaka rose to stardom after defeating Serena Williams to win the US Open title in 2018. After winning the Australian Open in 2019, her popularity rose even more. As a result, she has a wide variety of brands in her kitty including, Citizen, Nissan and Proctor & Gamble amongst many others.
