German Formula One driver Nico Hülkenberg, who is currently racing for MoneyGram Haas F1 Team, is set to join Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber from the 2025 F1 season onwards.

Hülkenberg, who returned to the F1 grid in 2023, joined Haas F1 after a three-year gap. He made his Formula One debut in 2010 with Williams and has driven for teams such as Force India, Sauber, and Renault, having also made one-off appearances for Racing Point and Aston Martin.

With Hülkenberg joining Sauber next year, a chain of movements in the driver market is likely to come about, as Haas have an empty seat for the upcoming season.

Ayao Komatsu, Team Principal, of MoneyGram Haas F1 Team, commented:

I’d like to extend my thanks to Nico for his contributions to the team in the time that he’s been here with us – he’s been a great team player and someone we very much enjoy working with. His experience and feedback have proved invaluable to us in terms of improving our overall performance – a fact that’s clearly evident in both his qualifying and race performances in the VF-24 this season. There’s lots more racing to go this year so we look forward to continuing to benefit from his inputs throughout the remainder of the 2024 season.

Andreas Seidl, CEO, Sauber Motorsports, added:

We are very pleased to welcome Nico back here in Hinwil from 2025 and to compete with him in Formula 1. With his speed, his experience and his commitment to teamwork, he will be an important part of the transformation of our team – and of Audi’s F1 project. Right from the start, there was great mutual interest in building something long-term together. Nico is a strong personality, and his input, on a professional and personal level, will help us to make progress both in the development of the car and in building up the team.

Being the youngest ever driver to compete in Formula One, Max Verstappen was destined for greatness. After making his debut with Scuderia Toro Rosso in 2015, his sheer pace and talent were quickly noticed, and Red Bull wasted no time in promoting him to their senior team in 2016. Verstappen paid back the faith put in him by Red Bull right off the bat as he won the Spanish Grand Prix in 2016 on debut, becoming the youngest-ever driver to win a Formula One race. Since then, Verstappen has become Red Bull Racing's talisman, and after showing promise in previous seasons, Verstappen won his first Drivers’ Title in 2021, which he then successfully defended in 2022.    Regarded as one of the finest on the current grid, Verstappen is slowly becoming a household name and also enjoys the backing of several sponsors.
