Nike renews CBF deal

Long-term renewal announced

The Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) has signed a 12-year partnership extension with sportswear brand Nike, which will extend their longstanding partnership to 2038. The deal which began in 1996, was supposed to end in 2026 but has now been extended and Nike will continue on as the Exclusive Supplier of Sports Equipment to the federation. Nike will continue to provide kits for the men’s and women’s national teams including academy squads, Olympic teams, and sides in both beach football and futsal.

The extension will also see CBF receive royalties from the sale of the national team shirts, which is a first and will also be ‘entitled to licensing the products.’

Ednaldo Rodrigues, President, CBF, commented,

“This is the largest sponsorship of a confederation and even football clubs from around the world. It will provide conditions for the CBF to continue to develop its work to promote Brazilian football, to increasingly support women’s football, grassroots football, both male and female. For the first time CBF will receive royalties, will have licensing in any country in the world, opening stores that can serve the Brazilian fan worldwide. “CBF is excited to renew its partnership with Nike. This is the result of a lot of work, a management committed to transparency and shows the strength of Brazilian football. We are hosting the Women’s World Cup in 2027, we have a Brazilian Championship that since 2022, when we take over the CBF, becomes better every year, with more paying audience. We saw the fans honoring the national team, we had the historic mark in 2023 of the highest average audience in the history of Brazil and this year we will also have a very expressive brand.”

Doug Bowles, Vice President and General Director, Nike Latin America, added,

“The extension of our partnership with CBF proudly marks the beginning of the fourth decade of collaboration and reaffirms our long-standing commitment to Brazilian football. We are excited to continue working together to inspire the new generation of Brazilian players, promoting a more inclusive and equal sport for all athletes in Latin America and the world. And of course, we are excited to continue to bring the most advanced innovations in Nike football to the CBF to create the future of the sport.”

Vini Jr, Brazilian player and Nike athlete, said,

“Nike has been an integral part of my journey as a footballer, providing me with the best possible products to support my performance on the field. I am thrilled to see the positive impact this partnership will have on young Brazilian players and the sport as a whole.”
