Odisha FC have announced the appointment of former FC Goa and Mumbai City FC manager Sergio Lobera as their new head coach. The Spaniard, who is a former Indian Super League (ISL) champion, has been on-boarded by the club on a two-year deal.
Lobera has quite a bit of experience in Indian football behind him. He was extremely successful during his stint with FC Goa between 2017 and 2020. His Goa side finished third in the 2017/18 ISL league stage and second in the league stage of the following season. His final season with Goa saw him finish on top of the ISL table in the 2019/20 campaign. He also ended up winning the 2019 Hero Super Cup with them, completing his extremely successful spell at the club.
Lobera’s achievements with FC Goa earned him a move to Mumbai City FC, where he would end up winning the ISL trophy with his first attempt. Odisha FC fan will hope that the attractive football Lobera’s teams are known to play bring their side success the way it did for his previous teams.
