The Utah Jazz is an American professional basketball team that were founded in 1974 in New Orleans as an expansion team known as the New Orleans Jazz. The Jazz compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a Western Conference Northwest Division member.
The franchise moved to Salt Lake City in 1979 and got rebranded as the Utah Jazz. The Jazz first qualified for the Playoffs in 1984 and didn’t miss any of them until 2004.
The franchise became a powerhouse in the 1990s but lost two finals to Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls. The Jazz has since won two Conference titles and 11 Division titles including their latest Division title in the 2021-22 season. In this article, we look at their sponsors:
The partnership between the Jazz and Qualtrics began in 2017, when Qualtrics donated its sponsorship of the jersey patch to “5 For the Fight“ — a global campaign inviting everyone to donate US$5 for the fight against cancer. It was the first-ever cause-related sponsorship in the history of North American professional sports and is the only cause-related jersey patch in the NBA.
When Qualtrics and the Jazz announced a three-year extension of their partnership in 2020, they reaffirmed their commitment to cancer research by continuing to donate the jersey patch to “5 For the Fight” through 2023.
In January 2021, the Jazz and Qualtrics further renewed their partnership, with the latter continuing as the sponsor of the Utah Jazz jersey patch through the 2022-23 season as well as their Exclusive Fan Experience, Insights, and Analytics partner.
