Stella McCartney releases Arsenal women’s kit

Fashion designer teams up with Adidas for the new kit.

Adidas has teamed up with fashion designer Stella McCartney to launch an exclusive Arsenal women’s team collection. The collaboration is the first-ever joint venture between McCartney and a women’s football team.
The collection is created around celebrating the Arsenal women’s team both on and off the pitch. The 10-piece range will also have full-zip hoodies.
Along with the women’s collection, McCartney will also design a gender-neutral pre-match jersey that will be worn by both the women’s and the men’s team of Arsenal FC. The women’s collection will be first worn on March 26 during the North London Derby when Arsenal face Tottenham Hotspur, while the men’s team will sport their pre-match jersey on April 4 when they travel to Crystal Palace.

Speaking about the collection, designer Stella McCartney stated:
“As the most decorated English women’s football club, Arsenal Women is made up of incredible athletes, so to be able to celebrate them – especially in a year that is so pivotal for women in sport – is incredibly special. We’re so excited to continue our journey into the world of football by creating our first travel wear collection for a team.
“Following our initial expansion into football last year with the design of the Predator Freak vegan boot, we’re once again staying true to Adidas by Stella McCartney’s DNA of pushing boundaries in consciously crafted performance wear. I love that we have fused statement leopard print – an iconic Adidas by Stella McCartney graphic – with distinctive colours to truly bring the two worlds of fashion and football together in an authentic way.
“We hope this collection inspires both current and the future generations of athletes as they make their mark on and off the pitch.”

Arsenal’s star striker Vivianne Miedema added:
“It’s great to have a collection created for our team, and even more so that Stella McCartney has designed it. The designs are amazing, and I can’t wait to wear the pre-match jersey on the pitch as we get into such an important time in the season.”

The collection will be featuring a distinctive mystery blue and scarlet red fused with a modern oversized leopard graphic synonymous to the McCartney brand. The collection is made from organic cotton with recycled materials, as both the parties continue to strive towards ending plastic waste.
McCartney partnered with Adidas first in 2005 and even designed the Team GB Olympic kits in both 2012 and 2016.
