New long-term partnership to develop and grow the women’s game.
US Soccer has renewed the deal with sportswear giant Nike that will see the two continue a partnership that started back in 1995.
The new long-term deal is reported to be for ten years and is the “largest commercial agreement in US Soccer history” and one of Nike’s largest football federation investments globally.
The deal will see the Oregon-based company continue to provide kits for all of US Soccer’s national team sides, including the senior women’s and men’s sides. Nike will also provide kits for the youth, para, futsal and beach teams.
Nike has also announced that the new deal will see the company work closely with US Soccer to focus on developing and growing the women’s game and provide more access to the sport with a combined goal of making football the most inclusive sport in the country.
US Soccer has also stated that it will “continue to utilise Nike’s leadership in performance and innovation to fuel National Team elite athlete performance”.
Cindy Parlow Cone, US Soccer President, commented:
“This strategic partnership is a sign of soccer’s importance in the United States and the value that both Nike and US Soccer places in each other.
“Nike has been such a positive partner for US Soccer for a long time, and has played a major role in the growth of the Federation as well as putting tremendous support behind many of our players over the years.
“To continue this partnership on such a high level, to continue to pursue the vitally important goals we both share and to have access to resources that will boost all areas of the Federation, are things that make us feel extremely positive about the future of soccer in the United States.”
Becca Kerr, Nike Vice President and General Manager of North America Women’s, added:
“Nike looks forward to building on our more than 25-year history with US Soccer to shape the future of sport at all levels.
“We want more kids – especially girls – to fall in love with sport because they had positive early experiences with soccer. Growing the game starts with investing in inclusivity.”
