Can the Giants get to winning ways?
A struggling Gujarat Giants face Delhi Capitals in the 10th game of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 as Ashleigh Gardner’s girls are desperate for a win and to find some form heading into the business end of the tournament. The Delhi girls on the other hand sit in third place and are tied on points with Bengaluru and Mumbai above them but are looking to solidify a top spot.
Ahead of the 10th match of the WPL 2025 between the Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Giants, here’s our match preview and predictions.
Women’s Premier League 2025 Match 10 | Group Stage | Delhi Capitals vs Gujarat Giants I 19:30 IST, February 25th
The Gujarat Giants started strong with the bat, putting up 201 in the opening game although they were unable to defend it but their top order of Beth Mooney, Laura Wolvaardt, Ashleigh Gardner and Harleen Deol have all been amongst the runs. It’s been the bowling department though, which has been the problem for the Giants as they haven’t been able to bowl out their opponents even once and they have been leaking runs. Gardner and Priya Mishra have been amongst the wickets but the others have been hot and cold which will be something that they will look to fix ahead of the final leg of the WPL.
The Delhi squad meanwhile, have been struggling to find consistency with the bat. Debutant and U19 World Cup winning captain Niki Prasad bailed them out in their opening game aginst Mumbai but Delhi’s starred top order with the likes of Meg Lanning, Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues yet to click together. Lanning and Verma are the league’s best opening pair, stats wise, and Lanning knows that she will need to take up more responsibility given that the Delhi team don’t bat that deep. Delhi’s bowling unit though, have been clinical with Jess Jonassen, Shikha Pandey, Marizanne Kapp all being amongst the wickets.
Playing at the Chinnaswamy in Bengaluru, it should be another high-scoring encounter with Delhi Capitals’ squad strength giving them the edge in this encounter.
Fantasy XI: Meg Lanning, Shafali Verma, Beth Mooney, Laura Wolvaardt, Jemimah Rodrigues, Ashleigh Gardner, Harleen Deol, Marizanne Kapp, Jess Jonassen, Shikha Pandey, Priya Mishra
Venue: M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru
Winner’s Prediction: Delhi Capitals
