Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will play Delhi Capitals in Match 14 of the WPL at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Having lost their previous encounter, RCB will be looking to make amends while DC would like to continue their winning momentum.
Women’s Premier League 2025 Match 14: Group Stage Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Delhi Capitals| 19:30 IST, March 1st
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru are in a mini slump having lost their last three matches. The second last match against UP Warriorz went right down to the wire and was decided by a super over in their opposition’s favour. However, the most recent one against Gujarat Giants would be more worrying as it was a fairly one-sided win for the Giants.
Batting first, RCB could only manage a paltry total of 125/7 with Kanika Ahuja being their highest scorer with 33(28) as their top order failed. Tanuja Kanwar and Deandra Dottin were excellent for the Giants taking two wickets each with the former conceding only 16 runs in her quota of four overs.
In response, Gujarat Giants chased the total down in 16.3 overs with Ashleigh Gardner being the top scorer 58(31) along with Phoebe Litchfield who supported her with 30*(21).
This would be a second consecutive match for the Delhi Capitals having played Mumbai Indians a day before. In their last encounter, Mumbai Indians batted first but could not rack up a big total, only scoring 123/9 in their 20 overs with none of their top order batters able to get to a big score. Jess Jonassen and Minnu Mani bowled superbly for the Capitals taking three wickets each to restrict the Mumbai Indians.
In response, DC chased down the total relatively quickly in just 14.3 overs with their openers Meg Lanning 60*(49) and Shafali Verma 43(28) doing the bulk of the scoring. An emphatic victory for the Delhi Capitals who are now in terrific form both with the bat and ball.
Both RCB and DC have well-balanced sides but considering form and momentum and also the fact that most players are now contributing to the winning cause rather than being over-reliant on one or two players like RCB, DC might edge out RCB in this one.
Fantasy XI: Meg Lanning (c), Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, Jess Johanssen, Annabel Sutherland, Marizann Kapp, Richa Ghosh (wk), Kanika Ahuja, Georgia Wareham, Kim Garth, Renuka Singh Thakur.
Winner’s Prediction: Delhi Capitals
Venue: M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru
