WPL 2025 | Match 19: Mumbai Indians vs Gujarat Giants | 19:30 IST, March 10

The Mumbai Indians won their last encounter against the UP Warriorz. Batting first, the Warriorz managed a total of 150/9 with a half-century from Georgia Voll, but the star of the show was the MI’s Amelia Kerr, who ended up with figures of 5/38. In response, the inaugural WPL champions comfortably chased down the total in 18.3 overs thanks to contributions from Hayley Matthews (68 off 46) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (37 off 23), putting their recent batting struggles behind them.

On the other hand, the Giants played their part in a thrilling chase against the Delhi Capitals. Batting first, the DC got a par score of 177/5 thanks to major contributions from openers Meg Lanning (92 off 57) and Shafali Verma (40 off 27). For the Giants, Meghna Singh took three wickets to limit the DC destruction.

In response, the Giants’ top-order batter Harleen Deol (70* off 49) steered her side to a win with support from Beth Mooney (44 off 35) and the hard-hitting Deandra Dottin (24 off 10), whose late surge alongside Deol tilted the game in the GG’s favour.

Both the Mumbai Indians and the Gujarat Giants come into this game with wins in their previous encounters, both having secured their qualification to the next as well. Considering their better, more balanced lineup on paper as compared to the Giants, we back the MI for this game.

Fantasy XI: Beth Mooney (wk), Hayley Matthews, Harleen Deol, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Amelia Kerr, Ashleigh Gardner, Deandra Dottin, Kashvee Gautam, Tanuja Kanwar, Shabnim Ismail

Winners Prediction: Mumbai Indians
Venue: Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai
