Match 6 of the 2025 Women’s Premier League season will see the UP Warriorz take on the Delhi Capitals at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on February 19.
For the game, here are our match preview and predictions.
Both the Warriorz and the Capitals are coming into this contest on the back of comprehensive defeats in their respective previous encounters.
The Warriorz capitulated in the middle overs and succumbed against the Gujarat Giants’ spin bowlers. Defending 143 runs was always going to be difficult, but getting the Giants down to 2-2 did give them some hope, though explosive contributions from Ashleigh Gardner (52) and Deandra Dottin (33*) took the game out of the Warriorz’ reach.
Against a quality opposition like the DC, the Warriorz will need their Australian duo of Tahlia McGrath and Grace Harris to step up; both of them got out cheaply in the last game. Skipper Deepti Sharma and Alana King will also have to step up in the bowling department following their average showing against the Giants.
The Capitals, on the other hand, following their last-ball victory over the Mumbai Indians, have come crashing down after getting thoroughly outplayed by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Match 4. A major cause for concern is their batting order: they’ve had collapses against both the MI and the RCB. Against Mumbai, chasing 164, Delhi collapsed from 60-0 to 76-4, though they did manage to win the game on the last ball by two wickets. Against Bengaluru, meanwhile, they went from 60-1 to 87-5 and got bowled out for 143, which the reigning champions chased down in 16.2 overs.
Looking ahead to this game, the final match at the Kotambi Stadium, recent fixtures suggest the pitches have been slow with ample assistance for the spinners. However, with dew also playing its part, it’s tough to say whether the Capitals will be able to avoid another batting collapse, though we believe they should have enough to come out on top against the Warriorz.
