The Women’s Premier League opening fixture this season will be played on 14th Feb 2025 between Gujarat Giants and the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, Gujarat.
The Gujarat Giants have bolstered their ranks with some new signings and look strong and balanced while RCB have added some squad players as well. Captained by Aussie opener Beth Mooney, the Giants would want to start with a bang but finding the right balance in a team that will surely have a couple of new players playing would be difficult. As for RCB, they will most likely play the same team that won the tournament last year and have an advantage there as the players already understand their roles.
The pitch at the Kotambi stadium also favours the spinners and with both sides boasting of quality spinners, it could be an intriguing encounter. Since it’s the opening game of the tournament, it could be a low-scoring encounter which RCB could win if they bat second.
Fantasy XI: Laura Wolvaardt, Smriti Mandhana (c), Beth Mooney (wk), Elise Perry, Deandra Dottin, Richa Ghosh, Ashley Gardner, Georgia Wareham, Kim Garth, Shreyanka Patil, Renuka Singh.
Venue: Vadodara, Gujarat
Winners Prediction: Royal Challengers Bengaluru
