The qualification hopes for the Rajasthan Royals hinge on a do-or-die encounter against a Mumbai Indians side that will be fighting to avoid the ignominy of a third bottom-placed season in the last five years in a high-stakes Match Number 69 for the 2026 IPL Season.

Here is our Preview and Predictions for the game.

IPL 2026 | Match 69: Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals | 15:30, May 24

Mumbai Indians have had a season of nightmarish proportions. A team that was earmarked to potentially win the IPL this season spent almost the entire season languishing at the foot of the table.

Their season lurched into further agony as they fell to a disappointing defeat against fellow playoff chasers Kolkata Knight Riders. Another poor batting performance followed by an under-par bowling display means that Hardik Pandya has lost 4 straight games as captain for the third time in his IPL Captaincy history. A lot of things have gone wrong for MI starting all the way from team selection, captaincy decisions, loss of form, injuries to key players, and lack of luck in crunch moments.

Mumbai will most eagerly want to finish this dreary season on a high. Their last game against Rajasthan Royals is their annual EFA (Education for All ) game, where MI brings in 25,000 children to watch the game and give them a memorable experience. MI will most definitely want to put up a performance for the sake of these young kids and make sure that their first experience in the stadium is a memorable one.

The Rajasthan Royals have once again managed to get another lease of life following a couple of defeats as they managed to get the better of the Lucknow Super Giants courtesy of another all-timer knock by teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who blasted a 38-ball-93 as the Royals chased down a massive 220-run target rather comfortably.

Vaibhav’s innings came as a surprise given that it was his slowest 50 in the IPL, and yet he smashed his runs at a strike rate of well over 250 which makes his meteoric rise all the more scary. He was ably supported by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel, with a late cameo from Donovan Ferreira sealing the deal in Jaipur.

While their batting has been brilliant, the bowling has tapered off significantly, having taken a beating against the bottom team at home. They will have to be much better against an MI side that on paper have a much better batting line-up than the Super Giants.

The last time these two sides met this season was in a rain-curtailed match in Guwahati. Rajasthan Royals emerged victorious in a truncated 11-over-a-side match by 27 runs following a barnstorming opening display of power-hitting by the Royals’ openers followed by an aggressive display of fast bowling to break the back of the Mumbai batsmen in the powerplay itself.

We believe that the Rajasthan Royals will be the outright favourites entering into the contest. The must-win nature of the game means that Mumbai might be in the game for a while, but it will not be enough to overhaul the Royals.
